For newbies and first-timers who want to get the most out of paddling.
This lesson starts in the morning for a more mellow experience where the focus is on paddle skill-building, muscle memory, and learning the rules of the road so everyone can enjoy cruising the waterways with confidence.
This small group lesson is lead by a Paddle Method coach who loves to share the stoke of SUP and get you moving on the water and on the learning curve and is a fun way to learn techniques, meet new paddlers, or just get quality time with a professional SUP coach.

SUP Discovery Lesson
Up to 30 minutes with a Paddle Method coach starting on the sand to get the basic strokes and steps to go from your knees to your feet. Next, head to the water and focus on paddling in a straight line, stopping and turning. The rest of the hour is yours to cruise around, get your SUP (sea) legs, and practice your new skill!
SUP basic is great for kids 10 to 14. Limited to a protected lagoon you’ll get to discover SUP with some basic moves.
Fyi paddlers must be able to swim on their own to do this lesson
If you’re not a comfortable swimmer please book a private lesson so you can get the support you need. If you’re interested in a special time or just want one on one attention a private class is the palace to start. Please call to book a time that works for you.

Southern California SUP Lesson Series
If you want to make the most of your time on the water you’ll want to be able to comfortably maneuver in Marinas, have the skills to paddle if it gets windy, and learn to time your way through the waves. The Paddle Method 1,2,3 lesson series is for you. Start with lesson 1, Marina Maneuvers (great for first-time paddlers and even if you have a little water time), move on to the Wind lesson, and take those skills to the Ocean and practice in LA’s only ocean launch location where you learn in a protected area.
It really is as easy as 1,2,3!

Wind & Workout Techniques
How to get a great SUP workout and how to get home when the wind picks up are very similar techniques.

Lesson 3
Intro to Ocean & Beach Launch
For those who complete 1 and 2 put your skills together and learn wave timing so you can launch through the surf and enjoy coastal cruising with whales and dolphins!
Our time is yours and private lessons are all about accommodating anyone from first-timers who want a personal experience or intermediate paddlers who want to build their skills; or advance coaching for those looking to prep for SUP surfing or their first SUP race!
Personal Coaching is for the SUP enthusiasts who want to build more knowledge, get a truly unique water workouts along with the chance to explore Socal’s waterways. Paddle Method’s personal coaching offers a chance to get individual attention and maximum results for your stroke. We use state- of- the- art GPS and Stroke rate monitors in conjunction with video, goal setting and an array of paddle drills.
1.5 hour Private lesson:
Mon-Thur: $125 for the first paddler and $50 for each additional person up to a total of 6
Fri-Sun: $150 for the first paddler and $55 for each additional person up to a total of 6

This is a great way to get started with SUP, or, if you've paddled before, improve your skills so you can paddle with more confidence. This 90 minutes (please allow up to 2 hours) is for all paddlers who want to learn the skills and paddle techniques to paddle through a busy marina environment confidently.
We start on the beach with an intro, learn the basics of board control in our flat water lagoon, and work up to the skills needed to paddle among the boats so you can say hello to a Sea Lion!

Tim is an awesome paddle board instructor. Although I have been paddle boarding for a while and I live and breathe the water, Tim’s techniques have helped me improve my paddle boarding tremendously. I am a much more efficient paddler now...
