From calm marina channels full of sea lions and pelicans to the dramatic Malibu coastline, from golden hour sunset cruises to advanced ocean paddles — we’ve been turning people into paddlers since 2010.
Every Paddle Method tour includes expert instruction from LA’s only ASI-accredited SUP school. Whether you’re stepping on a board for the first time or you’re ready to tackle open ocean, we have the right experience for you. All gear included. All skill levels welcome.

Marina Discovery Paddle
Learn to Paddleboard & Explore LA’s Hidden Wildlife
Our most popular experience — and the best way to start your paddle journey. The Marina Discovery Paddle combines a Level 1 Paddle Method lesson with a guided wildlife exploration through Marina del Rey’s channels. You’ll learn real paddleboard technique from a certified pro, then glide past sea lion colonies, dive-bombing pelicans, great blue herons, and the marina’s hidden waterways. Sea lions are spotted on nearly every paddle.
No experience needed. This 90-minute experience includes all premium gear (board, carbon fiber paddle, leash, safety equipment) for paddlers ages 14 and up. Save when you book with more than one person.
Morning Session | 8:30 AM | Up to 7 Paddlers
The calmest water of the day. Full Level 1 instruction. The best wildlife viewing. This is our top recommendation for first-timers, families, and anyone who wants a relaxed, confidence-building experience on the water.
Best for: First-timers, families, tourists, all ages 14+
Active Session | 10:30 AM | Up to 6 Paddlers
Same incredible wildlife, more adventure. The morning sea breeze adds a dynamic, athletic element to the paddle. Technique coaching plus wind and water management skills. Perfect for returning paddlers, athletic types, and confident swimmers who want more of a challenge.
Best for: Active types, returning paddlers, confident swimmers
First time paddling? We recommend the Morning Session — the calm water and full instruction are the perfect starting point.
Sunset Discovery Paddle
Golden Hour on the Water
There’s nothing quite like being on the water as the sun drops into the Pacific. The Sunset Discovery Paddle launches from Mother’s Beach as the sky turns gold. Cruise through calm marina channels, watch sea lions settle in for the evening, and see the LA skyline light up from the best seat in the house — your own paddleboard.
Great for date nights, friend groups, celebrations, or anyone who wants a memorable evening on the water. Some paddle experience is helpful but not required — we include instruction for all levels.
This 90-minute experience includes all premium gear for paddlers ages 16 and up. Available 7 days a week — schedule varies with sunset times. Private tours also available.
Malibu Coast Paddle
Ocean, Kelp Forests & the Dramatic Malibu Coastline
Ready for the ocean? You’ve built your skills on the marina and now it’s time to take them into open water. The Malibu Coast Paddle takes you along one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in California — dramatic sea cliffs, kelp forests, and crystal-clear water.
Keep an eye out for dolphins — they’re regular visitors along this stretch and love to check out paddleboarders. You’ll also paddle through kelp forests, spot marine life below the surface, and experience the ocean from a perspective most people never see.
This 90-minute to 2-hour experience includes all premium gear for paddlers ages 16 and up. Prior paddling experience required — this is intermediate-level ocean paddling with real swell and conditions. Available as private and small group excursions.
New to paddling? Start with the Marina Discovery Paddle to build your skills, then come back for the Malibu Coast when you’re ready.
